PURCHASE

Originally, BMP was purchased by TNC as part of the New River Headwaters Project.  Fourteen tracts have been acquired since 1978 (Table 1; Figure 4), yet no single survey shows the entire preserve.  However, Table 2 is a list of the various surveys that show portions of the preserve.  All documents hereinafter referred to as “recorded” should be assumed to be recorded in the Ashe County Registry, unless otherwise specified.

**This is how the grantor’s name is spelled in the deed and on the survey, but in many TNC records it is spelled “Bagden.”

†Survey by Billy Barr dated 2/2/2005 on file in the Asheville office. This tract was transferred by a quitclaim deed, and is also covered by a CWMTF conservation easement (see Easements & Legal Restrictions section for details). The 39-acre Bluff Mtn LLC 1 tract together with Bluff Mountain LLC 2 are sometimes collectively referred to as “Carleton.”
